| RIP... A few brief tributes to some extraordinary people... | ||
| Eleanor Doreen Fry (nee Chaplin), 1927-2001 |

My mother. My mother was both a very simple, unassuming, ordinary person ... and at the same time a quite extraordinary woman. She was the nucleus around which our family life revolved, providing the stability, support and love that the family needed and acting selflessly at all times. It was a privilege to have known her, and had her as a mother. No words can express how much I (and others) miss her. |
| John Peel, OBE, 1939-2004 |

(DJ). Music has always played an important part in my life, and John played a huge
part in my musical education. I must have spent many, many hours - over many years -
listening to his late-night shows, and he introduced me to all kinds of music
and artists that I came to appreciate and love.
I was deeply saddened by the news of his death ... it was like losing an
old friend. RIP John ... and thanks for all the great music. |
| Brian Redhead, 1929-1994 |
|
(Author, journalist and broadcaster). Brian was co-presenter of The Today Programme on BBC Radio 4 from 1975 until 1993. He was a a very intelligent and cultured man, and a natural and outstanding broadcaster. It was always a pleasure to listen to him ... especially when he took on the politicians. |
| Frank Zappa, 1940-1993 |

(Musician). An extraordinary musical talent, and a much underrated guitarist. |
