What is Big Note?
Big Note is a platform, set up to showcase
dynamic and contemporary songwriting talent.
It was started by Marc Johnson, in London 1997, to give songwriters
the opportunity to get their songs heard and to give people
who want to hear new songs the opportunity to hear them.
In a way it was a reaction against the corporate
music industry's "machine obsession" of product
and about getting back to the point of why music is exciting,
inspirational and - dare we say it - fun!!!
Above all its about great new songwriting
and giving those artists a platform on which to shine.
Big Note Promoting New Talent.
Not only are we promoting artists here, on
this very website - check out
our featured artists (containing interviews,
biographies, photos and music samples).
We also have an artists' links
page (a portal to songwriting musicians' own websites) as well
as a more general other links page to
more sites of interest.
In addition to this Big Note promotes artists
at it's live shows "Big
Note Unplugged and Acoustic " at
various London venues including the Hope and Anchor -
the Islington based venue made famous during the punk rock era
and one of London's few surviving original venues, artists that
performed there include; The Police, U2, The Stranglers, Joy
Division, The Cure, Ash, Black Flag... to name but a few - also
in The Red Room at The Comedy Pub, 7 Oxenden Street,Piccadilly
Circus, W1 is an intimate basement venue, located between Leicester
Square and Piccadilly Circus. See about
the club and our listings section
