The Author - Dennis Taylor |
|
Dennis Taylor was born into a South Yorkshire mining community. His father, grandfather and many of his relatives worked in the pits and it was not unexpected that Dennis would follow his father into the mining industry as an Electrical Engineer.
Following a Grammar School education, where he didn’t particularly shine, Dennis spent some thirty two years in the mining industry eventually being made redundant in 1989 at the age of 49 as the coal industry declined.
Married to wife, Pat, at the age of 21, they brought up a family of two girls and two boys and now have three grand children. Dennis’s hobbies were wide and varied but his main concentration throughout the 1990’s was on ‘The George Formby Society’ of which he became, and still is, President for most of that decade. His
interest in his family background, in particular the Outram family,
brought him into contact, through relatives in New Zealand, with a lady
living in Western Australia who told him that his great great
grandfather, William Sykes, had been a convict serving a life sentence
for manslaughter during the 19th Century. Research into this
information led to this novel being published. Most of what you will
read is true. |
