Bilton Silver Band Junior Contest
2001
The annual junior contest took place at Bilton Social Club on Friday 30th
March, 2001. The training band played a short concert, conducted by the
Training Band Musical Director, Alister Rowe, to start the proceedings off.

Altogether, 14 youngsters took part in one or more of three sections, Open Slow Melody, Ensemble and Air Varie. This last section is intended to give the participants a chance to try something a bit more technical, and entries included a very competent performance from Helen Kinder of "Vois tu la Neige qui Brille", and an exceedingly spirited rendition of the F major scale from Fred Noble!
Helen Kinder was presented with a trophy for Training Bandperson of the Year, for best all-round contribution to the Training Band for the last year.

The contest was adjudicated by Mrs Sheila Allen, a former member of Bilton Band, and herself winner of a junior contest trophy in the '80s. Sheila plays cornet, piano, clarinet and saxophone, and is currently taking "time out" from teaching looking after her 3 children.
Deportment was marked by Stan Cunningham, trombone player with the band. Click here for full results...
