Riglin

I looked at your website, very good, vistied Blackmore near christmas when they had a indoor market on, the reason for this as i am doing my familey history, Blackmore, Kelvedon Hatch, Bobbingworth, and surrouding areas, were where my ancesters came from, going back as far as I can go very late 1700s, would you know if the surname is still about in this area -Riglin

Christopher Rich

Update 17/10/07 - Following an email to this site- Christopher is now in touch with his cousin Lucille, after 20 years of no contact.

Found your address on the Internet while trying to search for my cousin, whose contact details I dont have, except I last heard he lives at "The Green", Blackmore, Essex. His name is Christopher Rich. I believe he and his parents (now deceased) played a big part in village life so I am hoping he is still there, and perhaps familiar to you? If so, please tell him his cousin Lucille, from South Africa, is now living in England and would love to re-establish contact with him! I have tried to find a phone no. for him but none listed.
I leave you in hope! ...
Thanks,
Lucille

Barrat

Ashley Willmott Barrett was the founder of the Baptist Church and school. I am a direct descendant from John Barrett, Ashley Willmott's uncle. Ashley Willmott 's father was the eldest son - hence all the monies were then inherited by Ashley Willmott. The family, as you may know, were millers and were extremely prosperous, owning a large portion of the village. Some of the Barrett tombstones are as close as you can get to the door of St Lawrence Church!
I did meet with Derek Cook the Minister of the Baptist Church, a couple of years ago, when the refurbishment was being carried out.
If you should know anything about the Barrett family, I would be delighted to hear it.
Really enjoyed viewing your website
Best wishes

Sutton

Subject: Hatched, Matched & Despatched
I found a reference to this booklet on the St. Lawrence website and would be interested to obtain a copy. As you may guess, I
am researching my family history and my ancestors lived in Blackmore from about 1750 until 1869. Their surname was Sutton and there were
once many families of Suttons in the village, the last one around 1914 I think.
Please could you let me know how I can purchase a copy of your book.
Many thanks
Liz Collins

Stephen Edward Sutton

Seems my great grandfather Stephen Edward Sutton was born in Blackmore 1855 so I just had to come and look at this site. Nice work! and of great interest.

Many thanks for you assistance

Stones

I found your contact details on the Blackmore Village website and was wondering whether you can point me in the right direction. My ancestors were originally from Blackmore (Stones Family) and I am trying to track down Hooks End Cottage. Would you know whether this place still exists?
Many thanks

Scrutton

I am trying to fill in and find additional information about an ancestor of mine (elder brother to my Grandfather) Frederick C Scrutton who was the Foreman at Fingrth Hall Farm (1901 census). Did he die locally ? Buried where ? His 6 children. I`ve found one of the relatives of his daughter Dorothy born in Nuneaton. If you have any relative information I would be obliged.
Thank you,

Franklyn

Enjoyed the website very much. I have several ancestors (Franklyn) who were born in Blackmore (late 1700's early 1800's). By the 1841 census they had all moved to Hornchurch, though.
