Funding

Funding is the big question – the build will cost money, where is it coming from?

  • The sale of the old school building has given the project £80,000. This was part of the original agreement by Essex County Council when the decision was first taken to close the Library and adjoining buildings.
  • The Parish Council have a lump sum of £10,000 to give to the Project.
  • The local Scouts and the Friday Club have been saving, and within their accounts a further combined £15,000 is available.
  • All plans, legal work, planning permission costs have already been met from local grants of over £15,000.
  • All the steel work required for the project has been donated,
  • Various individual gifts and grants have been donated,

The Project Group members are dedicating themselves to applying for local and national grants, - over £100,000 has been applied for, some of this total has already been promised. Others group members are organising events for 2008/2009.

We will have a new entrance hall with a long corridor within the new building with lots of Bricks – we are selling these bricks. “Buy a Brick” and have your name put on the wall, see next page for details.

September 2008, with professional advice, we have received formal tenders for the building costs, and a final figure for the build has been received, £274,285.

During September the old School building was sold for residential redevelopment, releasing the £80,000 funds for phase 2 of the Youth Centre Project.

Help is still needed, either time or cash! – we need to reach our target as soon as possible to start the centre.

If you have any of the above, or if you wish to buy a brick, give a donation, are able to help in the build – (it will need painting, trees need moving, etc) please contact one of the Project Group members, or via this Wep Site with the following email address - Dave@BlackmoreVillage.co.uk
