Introduction |
This site is the work of a group of friends who for three or four years have been going out every Friday night in Bradford for a pint or two and the inevitable curry. Over that time we have become aficionados of the dish - okay, let's not mince words: we're self-confessed chilli-addicts. We need this once-a-week fix. In fact, some of us have been known to sneak off mid-week to satisfy the craving. One of our group, exiled to Edinburgh - where he swears a first-rate curry cannot be had - has even implored us to post him a Kashmir vegetarian dish from time to time; and, fully understanding his plight, we've agreed. We take our curries seriously.
We're a varied bunch. We comprise of two or three computer programmers, an engineer, a freelance writer, and a teacher - with guests from time to time. Our tastes in curries vary likewise. Some of us can take vindaloos, while others prefer the milder dishes. Most of us are vegetarian - but we have one or two tame carnivores, so meat-eaters will be represented in this guide. |

When planning the BCG, we argued long and hard as to what type of curry restaurant we'd be covering. Some of us held firm that we should be reviewing only the bog-standard, no knives-and-forks, under-a-fiver dives, while others reasoned that to be truly representative of the establishments on offer in the city, we should widen our range and cover the more up-market restaurants. We came to a compromise. To begin with we'd review the many curry houses at the cheaper end of the market, and then move on to more expensive places. |
