We were alerted to this new arrival, the Spice Garden, to the Bradford Curry scene by one of our avid readers. The restaurant has taken over an old pub, and inside the decor is fresh and modern, and it even includes a dedicated bar area. It brings a new style and appeal compared to the traditional Bradford restaurant, and the young and friendly staff are keen to provide good service.

The Bradford Curry Guide members pride themselves on looking beyond the facade, good or bad, and rating the food on its own merits. We are pleased to say that the Spice Garden scored very well.

We began with a fair selection of starters: Onion Bhajee £2.95; Aloo Tikka £2.50; Meat Samosa £2.50; Fish Pakora £3.95; and Mixed Vegetable Pakora £2.95. They were all excellent, with the batter being crisp and well spiced. We had a minor comflict with the fish starter, with the comments "... fish was excellent - spices permeated the meat..." and "...fish was greasy..".

We thought the starters were good, but the main course was awesome. Not one dish was scored below 8, and that is fantastic for a new restaurant, and a group of people with varying tastes. The lamb was very tender, the chicken succulent and the vegetables fresh and tasty.

If you are looking for good food, modern surroundings and top notch service, then try the Spice Garden - you won't be disappointed.
