Burt Reynolds

Born: 11 February 1936, Waycross, Georgia, USA

Burt Reynolds in a wig, playing a Native American in an early role that the actor cites as his worst movie? - sounds like a recipe for disaster - but actually 'Navajo Joe' is one of Sergio Corbucci's finest westerns and a great example of the genre.

Reynolds career started with appearances in TV series such as 'Gunsmoke', 'Riverboat' and 'Hawk'. He soon made the transition to movies but it was his performance as Lewis Medlock in John Boorman's hillbilly nightmare 'Deliverance' that confirmed his star status.

His talent was often wasted in road caper movies such as the 'Smokey and the Bandit' and 'Cannonball Run' series.

More recently his popularity has been resurrected, not least due to his Oscar nominated role as adult film director Jack Horner in the hit film 'Boogie Nights'.
