Gian Maria Volonté

Born: 9 April 1933, Milan, Italy
Died: 6 December 1994, Florina, Greece

Volonté's few Spaghetti Western apperances have all been classic performances. More the pity then that he tended to deride the genre and spoke of the films as a stepping stone to greater things. He preferred his performances in the political westerns 'Face to Face' and 'Bullet for the General' as they pandered more to his left-wing ideals. He was always very politically active, and tended not to separate this from his acting career.

He went on the international acclaim in 'Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion.'
