Well the mixer lorry got stuck straight away! With 6 cubic metres of concret mix it was too heavy even for the tractor to tow so he had to dump it where he was. But then at least he could get towed off. Doesnt look much of a pile here does it! The (somewhat discontented) lorry driver said his lorry weighed 16 Tonnes. Hence no great surprise when the tow rope broke and with tow chain it wouldnt pull either. We took two lots up by hand in Kim's trailer - (made the tyres look flat!). Fortunately the good neighbour with the tractor went home and came back with a dugger bucket fitted as well as a tip up truck. It took them both many trips to bring it all up to us. |

Which was just as well as it took quite a while to get it spread out and skimmed and tamped down, and the daylight isnt long in November. It would have been a real slog to have had to shift it and lay it though. |

And then we had to rake out and retamp and skim it to the gradients down to the drains, but by then we were getting the hang of it. We had a big fire outside the sauna and took teas and lunch there. Lovely solid heat. |

We were done in good time, though Tony kept at it into the dusk. He held this one together in many ways, and did a lot of important preparations. But we all joined with it and it was good! I hope you enjoyed looking. And maybe feel inspired to come and help with the next stages, which should open up to include many different kinds of participation. Oh and one of these pics has a deliberate mistake. An impossibility. An unrealness. See if you can spot it ;-) If you have taken camp or Field related pics and you would like me to put up here just let me know - Brian |
