Sardines - ideas
Sardines are a good source of protein and calcium, and when mashed are easy to eat, but tinned sardines may prove to be too strong in flavour, and somewhat rich for people who have recently had EC surgery or chemotherapy. However, patients whose circumstances are different might try them, and some recent post surgery people have found them to be all right.
The usual way in England is to have them on toast or in sandwiches, and this appears to be the case in the USA also. Many EC people cannot swallow bread, but toast is acceptable.
If any other (tried and tested) ideas are forthcoming, they will be published here.
Marny
Subject: Sardines. Eating sardines would have done Dale in ... his palate was *so* not into most foods BEFORE surgery. After surgery, he still ate only those things that he would normally eat... and didn't eat his favorites when doing chemo so that no adverse thoughts would be associated with them! I, however, LOVE sardines ... with chopped onions and vinegar ... and hold the bread!! Gentle as you go, Marny
