PLANS to build homes on an
industrial site in greenbelt in Dronfield are set for approval. The planning application for 29 homes and two car barns has been submitted to North East Derbyshire District Council for the development on the site of Standall Tools Ltd, Mickley Lane, Dronfield Woodhouse. The existing building would be demolished under the plans to create the two storey housing project. But Dronfield Town Council say the site is in a narrow section of Green Belt that should be preserved, the highways network is already dangerous and the proposal is a major departure from the Development Plan. And the Campaign to Protect Rural England say the location of the site means residents will be reliant on private vehicles, and an inadequate footpath and lack of street lighting arecontrary to sustainability policies. But the planning officer is recommending approval, saying the proposal is in keeping with the site and surroundings and would not have a significant detrimental effect. The BMW was travelling between junctions 30 and 29 on the southbound carriage in north Derbyshire when it overturned on to its roof. Four people were in the vehicle, but only one remained trapped when fire crews from Chesterfield and Staveley arrived on the scene at around 11.20pm on Saturday. He was eventually freed at around 12.30am and taken to hospital. Source: Daily Star BURRELL: I WON'T BETRAY QUEEN.. FOR DIANA'S SAKE Diana's butler Paul Burrell has vowed to protect the Royal Family at the Princess's inquest - and will refuse to answer intimate questions about the Royals. "I'll tell the truth but on my terms," he has told a pal. "There are secrets about the lives of the Royal Family that I know, but will never disclose. I'm going into battle for Diana's reputation. It is my final duty." His pledge came as The People learned the Queen is "fearful" that Burrell, 49, will reveal bombshell secrets that could shatter the monarchy when he gives evidence tomorrow. But the former servant insisted: "There are things I know but will NEVER reveal." A source close to Burrell has told The People that senior royals have nothing to fear from his testimony. But a highly-placed Palace source said: "Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh know that he will be given a grilling and may be forced into a position where he gives answers that reflect badly on the Monarchy. "While they are reassured that he may refuse to answer questions about her intimate personal life, there are others which are relevant to the inquiry that he will simply have to respond to." Burrell is returning to England from his Florida home this weekend. The servant, once described by Diana as "my rock", will give evidence at the Royal Courts of Justice at the inquest into the deaths of Diana, 36, and her lover Dodi Fayed, 42, in a Paris car crash in 1997. French chauffeur Henri Paul, 41, also died. Coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker has already told the jury that Burrell had unrivalled access to Diana and could shed light on a series of questions from interrogator Michael Mansfield QC. But sources close to Burrell insist he will do nothing to cause embarrassment. One told The People: "It is true there's not one single aspect of the Princess that he's not aware of. But Paul is very much thinking of what Diana would want him to say. "He has told anybody who will listen, 'There are secrets about the lives of the Royal Family that I know, but will never disclose'." Burrell was denied a chance to defend his name in court in 2002 when he was wrongly accused of stealing possessions from Diana. Questions still remain about where those possessions are. Some older courtiers believe he will see the inquest as an opportunity to settle scores and reveal the information he was never allowed to in court. But The People understands more modern-thinking aides are "comfortable" with him giving evidence. And the Burrell source added: "Paul is very much thinking of what facts Diana would be happy to have revealed. He will stick to the evidence that is pertinent to the inquest and not stray from it one little bit. There are secrets that Paul knows which will go to the grave with him. "There will be no damaging stuff about the Royal Family. If questions from Michael Mansfield about the Royals stray into their personal lives then he won't go there unless the coroner insists." "Paul wants the truth to be told in a dignified manner which will protect Diana's reputation for always." The Queen spent 10 minutes looking for a shot pheasant at Sandringham yesterday in case it was suffering but failed to find it. Truck driver's son Paul Burrell was born in 1958 near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He joined the Royal Household in 1976 as a trainee footman and within a year was personal footman to the Queen. In 1984 he married royal maid Maria Cosgrove. The couple joined Charles and Diana's staff in 1986. Since Diana's death he has appeared on TV shows around the world and was runner-up in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Local Dicky Tickers heart support group member, John Wardle attended to support the BHF’s efforts and met with MP’s Natasha Engels and Paul Holmes to put a strong case to gain their support. John Wardle from Milltown Nr. Chesterfield said “ we as a volunteer group have always enjoyed good local support from the NEDDC, and local NHS/PCT and in fact were started with a grant from DCC, but support in some areas is dismal and funding always a problem and this campaign is just a start to persuade the Government to stick to the promises it made previously to provide the funding to ensure all heart patients could access facilities like ours. Paul Holmes MP was fully aware of the situation and promised his support and Natasha Engels MP was also very supportive and wanted to know more and said she would visit Dicky Tickers at Sharley Park at Clay Cross during the early part of 2008.” The campaign was organised by the British Heart Foundation and the House of Commons Lobby was attended by Heart Groups from all across the UK L to R, Alec Keep Cardiac Patient, Chesterfield MP Paul Holmes and John Wardle of Dicky Tickers HSG Source: - John Wardle 02-01-08 New Year and a new look for Home-Start Home-Start Bolsover District & Clay Cross Area is changing its look. Over the next eighteen months local people will be seeing a big change to the image of the UK’s leading family support charity. But our work is still the same. Home-Start’s unique and crucial support to families will not change. Home-Start Bolsover District & Clay Cross Area was set up in 1984 and last year helped 58 families and 125 children. It currently has 26 home-visiting volunteers who spend a few hours a week helping parents with children under five years old. The volunteers visit parents at home and use their own parenting experience to support other mothers and fathers and give them practical and emotional help. It is one of 340 local Home-Starts supporting families across the country. Nationally the organisation needed to refresh and coordinate its image to give a broader and distinctive appeal. ”Each local Home-Start is funded independently. It’s always difficult for local charities like us to get funding. Having a nationwide corporate identity helps individuals, charitable trusts and local authorities recognise the high standards of our training and service. This helps us to fund and deliver our service for local families,” said Maggie Masters, Scheme Senior Organiser. Our new image includes a new logo and strapline, fresh and modern colours, typefaces, photography and written style- all coming together to create a common look and feel for Home-Start publications and has been designed to reflect our friendly, inclusive, family centred approach. Research with over 250 scheme staff and trustees, supported families, volunteers, UK staff and trustees, funders and partner organisations indicated that the new image needed to reflect the charity’s long standing core values of support, friendship, and families. The research and development of the new look was funded by Home-Start UK. Local Home-Starts will have almost two years to roll out the new image. Source: Bolsover Homestart, 31/12/07 |
