I have been in dark places,
Hiding from the blinding light.
Escape the daring rat race,
Flee the living fight.
When I walk in my black hole,
Listening to the faded sound of the world outside,
I feel safe inside my pain,
Where I know I can hide.
I have seen a face in my mind,
A face that draws my breath.
I want to reach out and touch,
To leave my hole and see the light.
I am straining against these chains,
The chains I made myself,
The shadows I know I hide in pain,
But can I ever come out again?
