Reality Fades

Where did it all go?

Somebody came and tied weights to my limbs,

Pulling me down into the ground.

I think I might sink under a tide of rock,

The earth open up under me and drag me down.

Reality fades

Softly softly down to the pool.

Approach the still waters and hold in breath.

Watch the flicker and dance of life beyond

The thin film before the eyes.

Glint of movement so quick and gone

Lost in the stillness and shadow.

Reach out a finger, forward.

Now I see the reflection move

The image scatters with the ripples

A thousand little pieces all dancing off

Reality fades,

The light has gone.

I see you move like fish in a pool,

Ever swimming on so swift

All with lives and times and movement.

In the faded world my life is still,

The water's still again.

Mirror unbroken surface,

I can see my face in it.
