The exercises on these pages can prove useful in helping you achieve an oobe. Stick with them and look on the bright side. They cost you nothing to try.
Concentration
1. ..Take an object you can see clearly and place it near the foot of the bed. A better idea is to tape it to the ceiling...... only do this if your chosen object is a picture. Dont try it this way with crockery or a house brick etc or your first oob experience is liable to be permanent.
2...Dim all the lights, lay down and make yourself comfortable. You can cover yourself if it makes you feel secure but avoid heavy blankets unless the temperature in the room is extremely cold. If you have to strain your neck, eyes (or anything else) to see your object, reposition it.
3...Begin staring at the object, but dont strain. You may notice that with time, what light there is in the room may appear to start flashing or the object seems to fade away. Dont worry, this is quite normal when staring at objects for lengthy periods. If nothing else, it proves that your brain can be lulled into a comatose state while you are still awake.
4... Ok, so far so good. You may now start to feel sleepy, in fact the first few times you may actually drift off. The crucial thing is to fight off the tiredness. It sounds easy but it's actually quite difficult. Eventually your eyes will close, but rather than being fully asleep your brain will still be trying to do what you asked of it and attempt to see the object. Of course..... the conscious mind is unable to do this, the lovable old plodder is knackered but anxious to please.
5... What we're hoping for here is the unconscious mind to slip into gear earlier than planned and let you view the object THROUGH CLOSED EYELIDS. It sounds crazy! Yes of course it does. In fact it sounds crazy to me and i've done it countless times.
6...If all has gone well and it may take many sessions to acheive, you will be viewing the object through closed eyes. Of course, you are not really looking through closed eyes. Your unconscious is simply showing you a highly detailed thought picture that is as real as the monitor in front of you. You are literally SEEING WITH YOUR MIND. At this stage the astral body (unconscious mind) is occupying the area I called the AURA on the first page.
7... At this stage you are highly likely to wake up or experience the unpleasant JUMP-AWAKE I described earlier. The moment when your conscious mind shouts "oh no, I'm having none of this". Try hard not to panic, it isn't easy of course. But assuming you are viewing your object steadily, try to imagine yourself floating above the bed.
8... At this stage any feeling of floating or tugging at the base of the spine, or the feeling of hands clutching at you is a sure sign of separation.
