Imagined Elevation 1... Lay in bed on your back, try to keep your mind on the go and not allow it to shut off. Think about anything and everything: But dont think nonsense thoughts. They must be meaningful to you. The gas bill, the kids new school uniforms, the new girl in the greengrocers. Your latest plans for a DIY project or invading Poland. Go through every detail. Make it INTERESTING.
2...When you get to the stage where you are telling yourself you are sick of this game (dont cheat), try to visualise travelling upwards in a slow elevator. try to picture the whole scene. The people, the lights, the whine of the lifting gear...... but most importantly the FEEL of the upward motion. Try to keep this up for ten minutes a night for several days. This is way harder than you could ever imagine!
3... You may find you have an oobe even before you get to the next stage and if you do, all well and good: But if, like most of us, you dont: Proceed as follows; Step out of the lift and onto the roof of this building. Try to feel everything as if it were real. The hum of the city traffic far below: The slightly warm, fuel-filled breeze as it tickles your neck. Bright stars above. A slight whiff of fuel from the thousands of exhaust pipes helping get their owners home.
4... Now walk deliberately to the edge of the building and look down. Stand right on the very edge of the boundary or the guard rail or whatever your building has. God.... that is a long drop isn't it! Ponder this for a while, try to SEE EVERYTHING, SMELL EVERYTHING, HEAR EVERYTHING. FEEL THE COLD ROUGHNESS OF THAT ROTTING BRICKWORK YOU HAD TO STEADY YOURSELF ON!
5... Now ... step off the ledge and into the void. Try hard to FEEL with every part of your being the terrifying fall to earth. At first this will be nothing more than a simple mental exercise. But as your visualising skills improve (and they will), you will find the experience quite frightening. With a little practice you will be able to time the jump to come pretty close to your own dropping off to sleep moment
