The Life and Death of Stars Part II by Bob Leon
At our September meeting, Bob Leon the associations chairman presented the second part of a talk on the Life and Death of Stars. The talk focussed on the evolution of a star from a cloud of gas, through the protostar stage and on the the main sequence. The talk then described how the stars behaviour and physical appearance changes as different elements are burnt. The end points of a stars life were also described and how the mass of the star affect whether it will stay as a white dwarf, or crush itself into a neutron star or maybe even a black hole for the most massive.
The Next Meeting
At our next meeting on Thursday 1st October, after the brief AGM, David Pugh will present a talk on "Nebulae, the Birthplace and Graveyard of Stars." The meeting will be held at Friends Meeting Place, Granville Road, Clacton-on-Sea from 7:30pm. There is a £2 charge for visitors.
