Aspects of the Cosmos by David Peck
At the 4th September meeting one of our members David Peck, gave a presentation entitled 'Aspects of the Cosmos'. This was intended as a short talk concerning the History of Astronomy to be given at a later date to a local 'WI' group. David wanted critical advice from the meeting members in order to gauge its technical content and suitability for the intended audience. The talk prompted a lively discussion which resulted in a 'masterclass' on the subject of presentation styles. David's use of a limited number of available projector slides forced the subject of his presentation to be changed to 'The Planets and Moons of the Solar System.
The Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on October 2nd 2008 as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton. It is the CDAA's Annual General Meeting. However, the formal proceedings will be kept as short as possible to allow the main event of the evening to be a presentation given by Bob Leon entitled 'Our Sun - The Average Star Part I, Structure and Influence'. Please note that new members and visitors are always welcome at these meetings. Visitors are very welcome but are charged a fee of £1.50.
