The Cassini Mission by Jerry Workman
We had a special guest speaker - Jerry Workman - a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, at the May 1st meeting of the association. His presentation was titled 'The Cassini Mission'. Repeated missions by instrumented spacecraft to the planets of our solar system - Pioneer11 (1977) and Voyager (1977 to 1989) generated many images of Saturn and its moons. Although the quality of these images improved with each successive mission, many questions were left unanswered. Cassini (2004 to present) was sent to answer these questions. Jerry gave a presentation of Cassini's findings. He concentrated on the high resolution images of Saturns many moons, discussing the surface anomallies found and the possible reasons for their formation.

The meeting will be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton . Please note that new members and visitors are always welcome at these meetings.
