The Latest from the Hubble Space Telescope by Dr. Carolin Crawford
At the June 5th meeting We were extremely fortunate to have such a promenent and able guest speaker in Dr Carolin Crawford. The talk was entitled 'The Latest Images from Hubble'. In a very informative and interesting presentation she discussed recent discoveries relating to the planets such as Jupiter (new 'red spots') and Neptune (its extended ring system). She spoke of the proto planeary disks found in various nebulae, star clusters in the smc and lmc and then covered interacting galaxies, clusters of galaxies and gravitational lensing.
The Next Meeting
At the next monthly meeting to be held on the 3rd July, we have a short talk on the Constellation of Libra by our Publicity Officer Bob Leon followed by a DVD. The meeting will be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton . Please note that new members and visitors are always welcome at these meetings. Visitors are very welcome but are charged a fee of £1.50.
