At the 2nd June meeting David Peachey gave a talk on the subject of Migrating Planets. With his presentations the members can always expect informative and sometimes controversial issues. It is common for these to become a lively debate. In this instance David discussed the early formation of the Solar System and how through insights using computer simulation, he was able to suggest mechanisms by which the planets as they formed, moved to their present locations. He went on to consider recently discovered 'extra-solar' planets and the so called 'Hot Jupiters'. This bought into question just how common (or uncommon) solar systems similar to our own might be in the universe.
The next meeting to be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton will be on 7th July when Colin John will give a presentation entitled 'Technology in Space'.
