Photographing the Night Sky by Nik Syzmanec
Having had Nik Syzmanec as a guest speaker on previous occasions, members and guests were well aware that they were in for a treat. This was made obvious by the numbers of people attending the September meeting. Nik began his talk entitled 'Photographing the Night Sky' by showing the quality of images that were possible using the most basic of equipment. The effects of light pollution were demonstrated by comparing images of constellations in the UK against those taken at more exotic locations - the difference was stunning. An opportunity to use and review a variety of expensive equipment for astronomy magazines gave Nik's passion for imaging deep sky objects full reign and the audience were shown many superb images taken from observatories such as La Palma.
The Next Meeting
The annual A.G.M. is set for the October meeting but once this has been dealt with, David Pugh will presenta a talk entitled 'My Last Non-Digital Astrophotos'. The meeting will be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton on October 4th 2007. Please note that new members and visitors are always welcome at these meetings. First time visitors may attend for free but subsequent visits are charged a fee of £1.50.
