These reports appear in the Friday (before our monthly meeting held on the first Thursday of the month) editions of the 'Clacton Gazzette' and 'Essex Evening Standard' in their 'Neighbourhood News' sections.
These are transcripts of the full report sent in to the newspaper. Those which actually appear are often heavily modified (reduced in size) or, on occasion not printed at all.
The Society's Annual 'Christmas' quiz held on 1st December 2005 had David Pugh, taking over from Bill Violen as our quiz master for the first time this year. He did a stirling job. The majority of astronomy based questions (naturally) ranged from the commonplace to the fiendishly obscure and tested the society's boffins and laymen alike to their limits. The lighthearted banterand team rivalry made for an interesting and enjoyable evening.
The next meeting to be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton on January 5th has the welcome return of Dr Lisa Wright of Cambridge University. She presents as her subject, 'The Milky Way Outside/In'.
