The Annual Christmas Quiz Hosted by David Pugh

We had to begin the December meeting of the CDAA with the sad news of the death of Harry Thomson. He was the founder of our Astronomy Association with the first meeting of the CDAA being held at his house on 16th January 1969. A minute silence was held as a mark of respect. The meeting proceeded with the main event of the evening, our Annual Christmas Quiz. With four teams of three members each, David Pugh posed a variety of astronomy based questions to the group. It was a light-hearted, enjoyable and educational event with a selection of sweets being presented to the winners and indeed all members.

The Next Meeting

Our next meeting would normally be held on the first Thursday of the month but as this fails this year on the 1st January, we have changed the meeting date to the following week which is of course, the 8th January 2009. It will be held as usual at the 'Friends Meeting House' in Granville Road, Clacton. To celebrate our 40th Anniversary, Colin John will give a special lecture entitled '40 Years of CDAA'. Please note that new members and visitors are always welcome at these meetings. Visitors are very welcome but are charged a fee of £2.00.
