Flowers of DarknessHearken ye, O bold ones, whose breath is as the breath of lions, whose fame resounds even unto the ears of genies, whose virtues are heaped up in great number, even as grains of sand in the desert. My mistress bids you attend her servant at the coffee house of Farim ben Marzouk in the Street of Veils in the Pilgrim's District of Huzuz, on the morning of the 18th day of Dar, wherein a munificent gift may be won by those selected to perform a commission on her behalf. All enlightened races and professions are welcome to apply... What you need to play
Flowers of Darkness is an AD&D adventure set in the Al Qadim world. It begins in Huzuz, the City of Delights. The adventure will involve role-playing and story-telling skills, but will also have plenty of action and problem-solving as the tale unfolds. Players must have a copy of AD&D 2nd Edition Players Handbook and AD&D Al Qadim: Arabian Adventures. Players should also be adults and prepared to play in a mature fashion, with posts at least twice a week. Character SubmissionsPlayers should distribute 80 points to the six main characteristics, before racial adjustments. In line with Al Qadim rules, all characters must select Al Qadim kits, including 'foreigner' kits. Characters may be of any race and alignment, although evil characters may wish to disguise the fact. Multi-classed characters should remember to choose one kit for each class. If you want to play a priest, see the section about the Great Gods below. Social Station points will begin at the average level, rounded down. For example, a beggar-thief starts with status of 2 (1d3, average 2). A mamluk starts with status of 6 (1d4+4, average 2.5 + 4 = 6.5 rounded down to 6). Characters start with 3,000 experience points. Multi-classed characters divide these points equally between classes. Do not include the 10% bonus for a high prime requisite, although this will be included for earned experience during play. Include plenty of background with your character submission, the richer the better. Players who also possess the 'City of Delights' expansion pack will start as citizens of Huzuz. Characters who do not possess this add-on will start as visitors to Huzuz. There is no disadvantage involved in being a stranger to the city. When you have a character you think will be fun to play, email the details and background to: pbemail@lineone.net The Great GodsThe following are the eight Great Gods. They have worshippers of all alignments, being above such petty mortal distinctions. All priest kits can be applied to the worship of these Gods. This information is much reduced from the Al Qadim: Land of Fate boxed set. If you own this set, then feel free to worship any God mentioned therein appropriate to your character background. Hajama the Courageous, representing the ideal of bravery. Playing the GameThis web site will include details of player characters, maps, general information and other stuff. The game itself will be played over the Flowers e-group, and you are welcome to pre-register now and role-play your character submission in the coffee shop, prior to the arrival of the mysterious Lady's agent. Go to http://www.egroups.com/group/Flowers-of-Darkness to register. Lurkers are welcome.
