Welcome - We hope the web-site gives you the information that you require, but if not then please contact our administrator who will be delighted to help. Chansons is a mixed voice choir based in Perth, Scotland. First established in 1979, the choir has built up a reputation for high quality performance of a very wide repertoire. We are a recognised Scottish Charity and are members of Making Music.
Members are drawn from Perthshire, Fife and Angus - entry by audition, and soloists are normally drawn from within the group. The full members’ role numbers around forty voices.
For major works – of which we normally perform two or three per year, all of these voices will be utilised. When required a smaller chamber choir can also be provided. We are equally at home in an intimate or a grand setting, from drawing room to stage.
Our music ranges from classical to folk, opera to musicals, and we will perform a cappella, or accompanied by piano, organ or orchestra as the occasion demands. We can also provide a wedding choir.
Chansons has worked with many talented musicians over the years, and has taken part in the Perth Festival of the Arts. On occasion we can support other charitable bodies through fundraising concerts, as we have most recently for the Tsunami Appeal and the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh. We have performed at a wide variety of venues throughout Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and the Continent.
