Chris was born in Cape Town and completed his schooling at Paarl Boys High in 1976. From 1977 to 1981 Chris studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch and received his honours degree in 1981. 1982 and 1983 was spent doing military service reaching the rank of lieutenant. From 1984 to 1985 Chris worked for Sasol in Sasolburg, from 1985 to 1987 for Fedmis (Sentrachem) in Phalaborwa, from 1988 to 1993 for Sasol in Secunda and Johannesburg, and from 1994 to 1998 for Sasol in Birmingham (UK). In 1992 Chris completed his M.Com business management degree at the Rand Afrikaans University. In 1998 Chris joined the business-consulting firm TownsendTarnell Ltd. in London where his last position was Director: Mergers and Acquisition Services Group. In May 2000 Chris co-founded Chemove.com, an Internet based marketplace initially serving the European Chemical Logistics Industry.

Annelie was born in Nigel and completed her schooling at Bekker High School in 1975. In 1976 Annelie completed her senior secretarial certificate at the Pretoria Technicon. From 1977 to 1985 Annelie worked for a number of different companies in various secretarial positions. From 1985 to 1987 Annelie worked for Fedmis in Phalaborwa reaching the most senior position as assistant to the Managing Director, and from 1988 to 1993 for Sasol in Secunda and Johannesburg as assistant to various senior directors.

Since coming to England in 1994 Annelie spend the first few years learning the new environment and organising the family's new life. In 1998 Annelie joined the computer software company System Software in Bromsgrove as marketing assistant.

We currently live in Bromsgrove (Worcestershire) with our children Cobus and Ilze, although most of Cobus' time is spent at Liverpool University where he is studying Information Technology. Ilze is in her upper six-form year at Worcester Six-Form College.
