This site is aimed at members of the CTC living in the Leeds area, and any other cyclist interested in the CTC's activities.
Below are details of coming events in which riders from Leeds CTC will probably take part.
Rides
Leeds Cycling Action Group's next social ride is on 31st January, to Knaresborough. The route includes Wetherby on the way out, and Kirkby Overblow on the way back, and the 40 miles can be shortened by returning by train from Knaresborough. Meet at Oakwood Clock at 9:30am.
You can see the full social programme for the Action Group here
Other events and information
The proposed route between Bilton and Ripley, along the old railway line, is looking rather unlikely. The local Council appears to be backtracking, possibly as a result of powerful local land-owning interests. This is particularly frustrating after Sustrans allocated £200,000 for the project. If you want to add your name to a petition you can do so via the local Lib-Dems site, at the following link
The cycle parking by the rotunda at Leeds City Station is now closed to make way for the construction of the new Cycle Point. While construction work is going on, use the cycle parking on Platform 1 or on the short stay car park instead. The Cycle Point, with secure space for 300 bicycles, will open in May 2010. More details about the facility here.
We're grateful to the Leeds Cycling Action Group for this alert.
The next Leeds City Council Cycling Liaison meeting is scheduled for 18:15 on 27th January in the Civic Hall. The agenda has now been issued. Note that the date has changed from the provisional date previously given.
A brief report on the last Leeds City Council Cycling Liaison meeting can be viewed or downloaded here. The official minutes are now also available.
We are a small group of CTC members in Leeds who ride together regularly, mostly on Sundays. We would welcome new riders to join us, so if you're looking for companions for Sunday rides in particular, please get in touch (see the 'Contacts' link).
The group is registered as an informal CTC group under the aegis of CTC West Yorkshire District Association (hence the title above). Details of CTC West Yorkshire officials can be found in 'Cycle' magazine.
Alternatively, if day-long Sunday rides aren't what you're looking for, and you would be interested in forming a group to cater for your own cycling - be it mountain-biking, family rides or whatever - again, please get in touch, as either we or CTC West Yorkshire will be happy to help with advice and support.
