OUGS WESSEX BRANCH

Branch Organizer Sheila Alderman

The OUGS Wessex is one of 18 branches of the Open University Geological Society. The Wessex branch covers Hampshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight, Southern Wiltshire and the Channel Islands.

The aims of the Wessex branch and the society is to organise a varied programme of field trips to venues both locally and throughout the UK, and to support the local and national membership in their study and enjoyment of Earth Sciences.

We endeavour to welcome new and prospective members to join us in our aim of "learning by doing" in the field and to keep the branch membership informed of our activities and findings.

The branch organises events mainly locally, but also weekend trips last Easter to Guernsey and a September weekend on the Isle of Wight. In 2002 a week at Kindrogran Field Centre, Perthshire.
