Here's what some nice folks have said about The Interceptors!

Surfing Spectacular: -
…I like the heavy bass and drum sound to the group. Real garage surf...
..I must say I'm well impressed. Fave tracks are "Shoot The Curl", "Electric Pineapple", and "...Fake Fur Coat" ...

It's about time Colin Swift and his chums got onto vinyl! now, they are not your average reverby surf band. Colin plays guitar and theremin, Clive Davies is on rhythm, Ju Ju Delores is the bassist, and Grant Jones drums behind it all. Their sound is a bit drier and is more chord oriented. "Shoot The Curl" is quite chord-heavy, and has a twinge of "Out Of Limits" about it. "Secret Agent Q13" is similar, but has a sense of structure and texture similar to Canada's Unknowns. "The Phosphorescent Banana" is more reverby and surfy in structure, with notably nice production, and is simple and clean. "Orange Accelerator" is chunky with muted chops and a basic fifties instro feel to it. The Brits are getting closer to the real thing every day.
(Phil Dirt,
Surf guitar often has its critics for being unoriginal and sounding the same blah, blah, blah which is why The Interceptors are so important. Despite being their first journey onto vinyl, these 4 tracks rival the masters like 'Man or Astroman?'. 'Shoot the Curl' as they say.

4 originals from one of England's new surf bands. Prior to this EP they had out a cassette of rippin' originals (Surfin...) but alas, it's now out of print. 'Shoot The Curl' is a surf/space theme with a theremin added to make it even more mysterious. Secret agent Q13 is like Ventures spy music. The best one on here is on the "fruit" side of the EP and is entitled "The Phosphorescent Banana" - a 3 chord guitar number that thumps along hypnotically - speakin' of which I dug the hypnowheel record label...
(R. Hagensen, Livewire no. 11 and 12, Joint issue)
The Electric Pineapple is a disguised theremin, better-used here than live - on stage it is a foil to Colin's between songs stand-up routine, on record it gets to sing along. The Interceptors are the North-East's best, prehaps only, surf band. This is beautiful music: Cool and playful, light and ecstatic. Catchy tunes too.
(Nick X Fast Connection no. 3)
'Out of limits' style intro into Shoot The Curl before big chorded lead guitar takes over on a jolly number which nevertheless doesn't seem to continue. Secret Agent Q13 is another boppy guitar instrumental. ' Banana gets more of a Ventures' feel with hard edge rhythm/lead guitars on a 12 bar. Saving the best 'till last, is Orange Accelerator, which drives along with a lot of energy and is actually more 1962 period than anything else...... Surf on the Tyne eh? - things are looking up, it's usually mattresses or bicycle tyres.

The track The Electric Pineapple from 'The Missing Chord - a compilation of mostly British surf/instrumental acts (note this is unavailable elsewhere -its not on the first EP!)' :-
... - a 1000 volt rocker if ever I've heard one...

Having a philosophical argument with the Interceptors :-

Live!
..Colin, Grant, Pete and Richard took stage to a room full of supporters all of which had paid a couple of quid ahead to see the two bands. Good value too. The group, with light hearted introductions from Colin in the form of quips and in-jokes kicked off with a fetish of theirs in food (or plants?) with a poppy Phosphorescent Banana, a driving Attack of the Killer Cheeseplant before another cut which I didn't quite catch but it sounded like Pete and Bernie's Philosophical Steakhouse. With special effects via a single strobe light and an Electric Pineapple (I kid you not) the group quipped even more with bits of Crossroads (They're older than I thought) before a sprightly Munster's Theme before closing with two more good guitar cuts Bap from Outer Space and the superbly titled Blackpool Hallucinations. Original?, Yes, Fun? Yes surf?, mmm not so sure, but it still sounded great to these ears...
