Hardwood Windows

Before we started

Temporary glass fitted

This is the start of a job where first of all we had to remove the Stained Glass from all the top lights. The glass was to be renovated & then Triple Glazed ready for the new frames. Old Stained Glass takes time & patience to remove. especially when they have been painted over many times, the glass is very delicate & the slightest shock can break another piece. To view the Stained Glass renovation click here.

Here you see all the Stained Glass removed which took us a full day to complete. Fortunately we didn't damage any glass, sometimes it is difficult to match & you have to rely on other older properties, who have scrapped their glass, so that you can get a perfect match. We install temporary glass while renovation takes place. If you would like to view the Stained Glass from this property click here.

Frames removed preparing to install new

Looking from the inside

A property of this nature, with stone pillars always has the frames installed from the inside. Some companies try to cut out the frames from the outside & replace smaller frames from the outside. They then have to patch up the miss-matches on the inside making it a messy installation. Here is a view of the old frames removed from behind the stone pillars which are now cleaned up ready for the new frames. To view the Stained glass from this property click here.

Looking now from the inside. Frames installed with new wooden window bottoms & the renovated Stained Glass which we managed to repair. In the bottom lights the customer requested Georgian Leading which was chosen to match the original leading in the Stained Glass lights at the top. All internal & external painting was done by Clayton Carpentry as requested by the customer, along with any re-plastering required. To view the stained glass, click here.

A view of the finished frames

Front of house completed

A close up view from the outside showing them completely finished including all painting. The smaller window was that of the bathroom & we had to higher the base of the frame to accommodate the wash basin. All the double & triple glazed units were separated with bronze spacer bars which gave the plain glass a look of tinted glass.

The final view of the front of the house. All the stone lintles were re-painted before we left & the customer was completely satisfied with the installation, so much so that we were given a thank you card & a box of chocolates. We don't get this treatment very often but it does make a refreshing change to be appreciated for the work we undertake.
