SpSpidey-Mania!!

A 40 year old fan base is going to do wonders for any newly released film.  But apart for long term fans, people form all walks of life are raving about the new Spider-Man movie.

Some hardcore fans are worried that the spidey explosion is going to do do for Spider-Man what Batman and Robin did for Batman...bugger all!!  Worse than bugger all, totally ruin what it stands for!!  6 months ago if someone found out I was a web-head fan, I probably would have gotten a funny look or been called a geek or something.  Now everywhere I turn there are Spider-Man "fans".

At the end of the day...(or at least until Spider-Man 2 is released) ordinary cinema goers are only gonna remember the movie and Spider-Man as that film a few years ago with really great special effects and the cute guy in tight clothes.  Comic readers and True Believers will once again be in the minority.

But maybe this film will do something that has yet to be accomplished:  Help dismiss the common idea that comic fans and Marvel/DC fans aren't "geeks" or "lame".  We are actually pretty damn cool people who just happen to have really cool taste when it comes to art and reading material!!
