Yamcha was originally a desert
bandit. He meets the others in Dragonball when I think he tries to
rob them. He falls in love with Bulma, and she falls in love with
him. They don't end up getting married because she marries Vegeta.
He has an eye for women and is a bit of a play boy. He is a good
fighter and he is very strong (as far as ordinary humans go), but he is
always too eager to rush into a fight which tends to set him into
trouble. He is a pro baseball player, although he does not enjoy
it much. His real love is fighting. Before the fight with
the Saiyans, he along with Chou-su, Krillen and Tien, is trained by Kami
on his lookout for a year to prepare for the battle. He is
killed in the fight with Vegeta, Nappa, and the Sibamen and trains in
King Kai's planet before being wished back to earth.
Tienshinhan!!
Tien is also a strong fighter.
He favors the tri form attack which he calls twelve eyes. I don't
know why he has three eyes, I read somewhere that the 3rd represents
enlightenment. I don't think he is an alien, in fact, I'm
pretty sure he's not. In Dragonball, he was an assassin, the best
in the world. He first met the Z team when he was sent to
assassinate Goku. Another baddie turned goodie (there seams to be
a lot of them), he is also killed in the fight with Nappa and
later trains with King Kai alongside Yamcha. Tien puts up a brave
and powerful fight against Cel allowing the androids to escape, but the
farce of his attack left him almost dead, he would have done (again),
but Goku entered and carried an unconscious Tien and Piccolo to safety
on Kami's lookout. It's pretty hard once Tien has made up his mind
or set his mind to something to convince him to change it. On
Kami's lookout he point blank refused to wear the Saiya-jin uniform
Bulma had made for everyone, insisting that he was NOT a Saiyan and he
will NOT wear a Saiyan uniform.
Chou-Su!!
Tien's constant companion, chou-su (the clown
thing as my brother calls is), I don't think is either a boy or a girl.
Chou-su is a young emperor and spirit child. Because of this,
Chou-su can not become any stronger, but trains with the others anyway.
Also training with the others on Kami's lookout and on King Kais'
planet, chou-su is loyal and sweet and always with Tien.
Pwar!!
Pwar was
Yamcha's companion whilst he was a desert bandit. Pwar don't play
a large part after DragonBall, but continues to have a rivalry with
Oolong. Like Oolong, Pwar is a shape shifter
Chi Chi!!
Chi Chi is Goku's 'dictator'
wife. She first meets Goku in dragonball, when Goku and his
friends have to retrieve a dragonball from her father Ox King's castle.
She 'tricks' Goku into marrying her by making him promise to do so even
tough he didn't know what 'married' was. Things work out pretty
well tough. They fall in love and get married. She is very
strict and protective over her first born son Gohan, and forces him to
study a Hfil of a lot. She is much less disciplined with the
second son Gotten. She can fight and does so in dragonball but not
in DBZ. I'm not sure, but I think she has a power level of around
180 something. During DBZ she occasionally shows that she can
still fight and she can still help out when she is needed.
Yajerobi!!
A monk who lives just underneath
Kami's lookout with Koren, the cat. He isn't a very pleasant
person and not much good fighting wise, (the only time he plucks up the
courage and is any good to the Z team is when he uses his samurai sword
which he carries to cut of Oozaru Vegeta's tail during the Saiya-jin
saga). The only thing he does through most of the series is eat.
Master Roshi!!
Master Roshi was the martial
arts master who trained Goku and Krillen when they were young. Now
that their powers have far surpassed his own, he does little fighting
and provides a lot of the 'comic relief'. A renowned old pervert,
he is a typical dirty old man with an unsuccessful eye for women.
He lives at Kame House on Turtle Island with his 1000 year old companion
and friend Turtle.
Mr. Po Po!!
Mr Popo lives on Kami's lookout
with Kami. He is known for taking care of the plants and such. He
is a good friend to Kami and later Dende. He is very loyal and
friendly towards everyone.
Oolong!!
One of the funny things about
dragonball is that not all 'earthlings' are human. Take Oolong for
example. He is a pig but he walks, talks and dresses like a normal
person. he doesn't fight and is actually rather cowardly. He
blew the first ever wish we see in dragonball on a pair of knickers,
which he wore on his head for quite some time after.
Bra!!
Bra is the second child of
Vegeta and Bulma. Like her brother Trunks, she is half Saiyan, but
unlike her brother she does not fight and usually stays with her mother,
providing some of the comic relief as the show goes along. She
prefers shopping to fighting, but if she ever decided to fight, she has
the potential to become one of the strongest girls on the planet.
She shows her 'real' strength by going against her Saiyan instincts
and peer pressure to fight and fallows her heart, doping what
'she' wants to do and enjoying life.
Ox King!!
Chi Chi's father. He is,
uh, rather a large man, he doesn't fight and spends most of his time
trying to get Chi Chi to calm down. Like so many other
characters, we first see him early on in Dragonball, where he is, you've
guessed it, a bad guy. He too was trained by Master Roshi along
with Son Gohan (Goku's Grandfather), Kind of an older version of the
friendship between Goku and Krillen.
Shenlong!!
The Earth's eternal dragon.
He is summoned when a person brings all seven dragonballs together.
He will grant any wish within his power, which I can't figure out!
He can bring a person back from the dead (providing it was not a natural
death), but he is not powerful enough to destroy Nappa and Vegeta!!
(That's at the beginning of the Saiya-jin saga-wimp or what!!) he
resembles a traditional eastern dragon.
Porrunga!!
The Namekian dragon. He is
much stronger than Shenglong. He is also much bigger.
Mr. Shu!!
Gohan's private tutor for a time
while Goku still hadn't returned from the battle on Namek. He is a
very tough man and uses a whip a lot on Gohan. Chi Chi hires him
when she becomes concerned about Gohan's academic work. He has a
very low opinion of Goku and constantly tells this to Gohan and preaches
that Gohan has no father of father figure. He calls Goku a
"brute" which Gohan isn't too happy about, "My dad's a
saint compared to you" he is told by Gohan." Mr. Shu is
more than a little but 'freaked' when his attempts to discipline Gohan
with a whip fail when Gohan catches it and crushed it in his hand.
Mr. Shu (being a stuck up coward) calls for Chi Chi. Chi Chi is
not amused when she is told of Gohan's "bad behavior",
but is infuriated when she hears Mr. Shu insult Gohan and Goku.
For the first time in Dragonball Z, Chi Chi releases the full potential
of her power on Mr. Shu, throwing Mr. Shu out the window then chasing
him off her property after a compliment of Gohan "wow, nice throw
mom!", she replies "Thank you" softly, then makes sure Mr.
Shu never sets foot on her property again.
He is only in a handful of
episodes, but he's a great hate figure!!
