How The System Works
The Control Unit gathers and displays data from up to four scanners. It also supplies power to the scanners. To distinguish between and to count two fish coming down the channel at the same time, the microprocessor-based counter uses advanced software to analyse data, images/silhouettes obtained from the scanning.
The Scanner Unit "sees" the fish as they pass through the V-channel, counts them and relays data, to the control unit via the connector lead.
The V-channels regulate the flow of fish and water and separate the fish, making it possible to count them. There are different V-channels available for different fish sizes and applications.

The Bioscanner Fish Counter is available in many variants depending on the needs and size of the fish farm. The Bioscanner fish counter works very well on salmon, trout and arctic char, sea bass and sea bream, tilapia, yellowtail, hybrid striped bass and other species from 3 g to 6 kg (0.1 oz - 13 lbs). It is in use in over 700 fish farms around the world.

The Bioscanner Quattro is specially designed for high-speed counting of large numbers, e.g. when smolts are being transferred via helicopter or transport trucks and loading time must be kept as short as possible.
The Bioscanner Counting Tub is specially designed for counting live fish in the size range 3 g - 100 g (0.1 oz - 3.5 oz).
