Abbreviations
Throughout the Wills Index the
Chapman County Codes are used.
Additionally the following abbreviations
are used:
ADM or Admon = Administration
BK = Compilers reference number
Dd = Died
INV = Inventory
O/S = Overseas
PBT = Probate
PCC = Prerogative Court of Canterbury
PVD = Proved
# followed by a number = Note Number.
Salop = refers to Shropshire or,
occasionally, Shrewsbury in Shropshire.
(Som.Hse) = Somerset House (All wills made
after 1858 could once be found at the Principal Probate
Registry at Somerset House, London. These have been moved
to First Avenue House, High Holborn, London.)
Unadm.
= Unadministered
The wills on this index have been
extracted from a variety of places including county
record office index cards, Camp's Wills, index cards at
the Society of Genealogist, London etc.
