Welcome to Corncrake Consulting!o I established Corncrake in April 1999 after a career spent entirely in an international blue chip environment other than a 2½ year 'interlude' as an Advisor in the Prime Minister's Office. .

Corncrake provides support for companies looking to develop in Central Europe, Russia and China. Our focus is on acquisitions, investments, JVs and mergers in the Food & Drinks and Hotels & Leisure sectors. Our key strength is our ability to provide advice based on a sound understanding of the operational issues as well as upon conventional strategic and financial analysis . Our main activities include:
 

  • Country Research - industry structure, market analysis, business environment;
  • Entry Strategy - examination of entry options and potential target acquisitions;
  • Initial Due Diligence - preliminary financial analysis and valuation, issues arising;

    • Corncrake can fully manage smaller acquisition projects through to completion. For larger projects, we can carry out all the groundwork required for the initial decision "in principle". oIf the project proceeds, Corncrake can assist clients in assembling the project team, including external legal, financial etc. specialists with proven local market capability.  Similarly, Corncrake can recommend the most appropriate Investment Bank/Corporate Finance House to take on the lead responsibility for steering the project through to completion.

    Why Corncrake? iThe Corncrake is, of course, an unassuming small bird - very rare and highly secretive. i It seemed a fitting name for a small specialist consultancy working discreetly - often behind the scenes - on sensitive commercial transactions.
