I run a successful private practice in York where I offer:
- Counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples.
- Executive and business coaching to individuals and organisations.
- Supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists. I supervise individuals and groups.
- Training workshops in counselling related subjects for organisations.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I hold an MA with distinction in Gestalt Psychotherapy, and an Advanced Diploma with distinction in Counselling.
I also have a BSc (II/I Hon) Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Supervision. I have completed Post Graduate Certificate training in Executive and Business Coaching
I am registered as a psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and as a counsellor and counselling trainer with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have worked as a counsellor since 1992 and as a psychotherapist since 1994. I have extensive experience of counselling in York NHS Trust where I worked in the Clinical Psychology Department, in local GP surgeries and on the staff support network. I also have experience of counselling with Relate.
As a supervisor I have considerable experience of supervising individuals and groups. Supervisees have worked in the voluntary and statutory sectors and in private practice. I have supervised people at many different stages of professional development.
I currently work as a core trainer on the HE Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at Leeds Metropolitan University. In this capacity I provide training for people who want to qualify as counsellors. I have worked on this course since 1999. I have contributed to many other professional training programmes.
I also work as an associate trainer for an organisation called Witness (Against Abuse by Health and Care Workers). In this role I have provided training on professional boundaries for the Health Professions Council and various Social Care Councils.
