Issue 1

Editorial

In early 2003 an unemployed Englishman had the idea of releasing an e-zine to keep him occupied between issues of Critical Miss. It seemed like a good idea at the time. There was Critical Miss, The Munchkin's Guide to Power-Gaming... British gaming humour seemed to be where it was at, and he knew a bandwagon when he saw one.

A few months passed and the man shelved the idea in order to get on with something else. Then another vista of boredom opened up before him, as vistas tend to do. Seeing some of the crap that had accumulated on his hard drive in the meantime, he decided it might well be worth a go anyway.

Welcome to Slack 'n' Hash, another RPG zine in an overcrowded world of RPG zines.

The theme for this issue is ‘Villains’ - the bastards we all love to hate. Almost every article is devoted to villainy in some way, from minor sins such as looting bodies, to lying, intimidation and theft. You'll find stuff on the two great villainous prestige classes in this issue too.

So, how often will this magazine be out, I hear you ask? Weekly? Hah! No chance. Monthly? Only if I can get enough submissions. Issue 2 should be out in the new year, so Slack 'n' Hash will be quarterly at least. Like Critical Miss would be if those sods didn't have lives. Next issue's theme will be something pretty close to a lot of gamers' hearts, though -- Nostalgia. Those early gaming experiences that, against all reason, kept us playing, the comics and cartoon series that got us interested in the first place... eeeh, it brings a lump to me throat already, it really does. Fancy getting contributing something? Check the submissions guidelines.
