Jason Goes to Hell : The Final Friday title

Tag Line : Evil has finally found a home.

Jason Goes to Hell : The Final Friday The Final Friday the 13th is here! (don't you beleive it, thats what they said in part 4). Jason is tracked down by the FBI and ambushed by a police SWAT unit next to Crystal Lake, whereby he is literally blown to pieces.

All the body parts are loaded up and taken away for forensic examination. With Jason apparently gone for good the local townsfolk start to relax and a few people start to return to the Crystal Lake area.

The police are then baffled by the subsequent dissapearance of one of the morticians and the re-surgence of another spate of mysterious killings, inspite of the fact that Jasons body is still lying in pieces in their morgue.

Bounty Hunter Creighton Duke (played by a pre-X-files Steven Williams) knows what is happening and also knows the only way that Jason can be truly stopped forever in this (supposed) final sequel that seems to owe more to "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" than Friday the 13th.

Kane Hodder once again reprises his role as pscho killer Jason Vorhee's, although the actual Jason character only features for the films introduction and climax. John De LeMay, who starred in the Friday the 13th spin-off TV series, also features as one of the characters trying to stop Jason.

Unfortunately though, inspite of the inclusion of all these notable characters, this movie was in many ways a bigger dissapointment than Part 8. There's not enough of Jason in this movie as his "Spirit" goes around jumping from body to body until he can be reborn, which is totally farcical. I had expected much better than this dismal effort.

The ending is also exceptionally corny, which features another popular horror character. I won't say who but he's supposed to be pitched up against Jason in the Next film if it ever gets made (there's a clue for you).

Overall marks 5/10.

Other information.

This film was by New Line Pictures, who also own the rights to "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and the "Nightmare on Elm Street" Saga. The franchise was quickly snapped up by New Line, after Paramount Pictures decided that Friday the 13th had exhausted its financial appeal.

Adam Marcus was director this time round, he apparently also worked in some minor role on the first film. The production was by Sean Cunnigham who was the director of the first movie and Harry Manfredini also returns to score the music (Hoooray!).

Kane Hodder also starred as one of the guards at the morgue that gets killed by Jason, who's taken over the body of the mortician.

Although the area is still called crystal lake, it appears that the county name has changed once again. This time to Cunningham County (a tip of the hat to Sean Cunningham who produced this film and directed the original).
