Tag Line : Micheal Myers Lives!
After thoroughly enjoying part 4, I was really
looking forward to this next installment in the Halloween saga.
So you can imagine my utter disapointment when I popped the tape
of this film in my Video recorder and found out what a load of
rubbish this was.
Filmed virtually straight after part 4, the film features all the main cast members of the previous movie including Danielle Harris as Jamie, Beau Starr as the Sherrif and Ellie Cornell as Jamie's adopted sister. Not forgetting the enigmatic Donald Pleasance as Dr Loomis.
Well, inspite of being shot to peices by the police, then falling backwards into an old mineshaft, it seems Micheal Myers survived (surprise surprise). Managing to crawl out of the shaft via a water duct in the bottom, Myers makes his way down river and lands on the door of some old hermit where he colapses after his ordeal.
He then spends a whole year recouperating, then on October 31st '89 dons his favourite Halloween mask and repays the old hermits kindness for looking after him by brutally murdering him. He then makes his way back into town to resume his hunt for young Jamie Lloyd.
It seems that since part 4, Jamie is now residing in an institution, unable to talk, and has developed a telepathic link with uncle Micheal (what?). Unfortunately, because Jamie can't talk she is unable to tell Loomis as to Myers whereabouts.
Most of the film is spent with Michael Chasing young Jamie around the place again and very little else, the plot also isn't helped by the oddball antics of 2 goofy cops who act like a couple of stooges in a failed attempt to bring some comic releif to the film. Although the plot does have one intersting feature, the arrival of a mysterious man in black who appears to be following Myers around, although his identity and interest with Myers are never explained.
My suspicions of how good (bad) this film was, were first aroused when it was first released in the UK direct-to-video and totally missed out the cinema. This film is even worse than "Friday the 13th part 5" but I recommend you see it so you can understand the plot of part 6, but not for any other reason.
Overall Marks 5/10
