Week 17
23 July 2001
Monday and a busy day. The building inspector came around to see the waste pipes but didn't find any problems. And the underfloor heating system was delivered. |
Kitchen wall was knocked down so we could see the floor levels |
| Tuesday still recycling the old bricks until the bought in MOT hardcore arrived. |
Hardcore wackered down and nice and smooth. |
| Wednesday and with the hardcore nice and smooth we start to lay the Radon / damproof membrane over. |
By end of play we had a pile of hardcore left over to match the existing pile of gravel. |
| Thursday and the old holes left by the floor joists needed filling. |
By Friday, the membrane was almost fully down and just needed attaching to the walls with bitchumen tar and a few nails. |
Friday was pretty hectic with the building inspector coming in the afternoon and I had to pick up 3 wheelbarrows and shovels and a rake for the following day's concreting. The building inspector had a gook look around and basically OK'd everything he saw. |
| Saturday morning and 7:30 the first load of concrete arrived. 4 and a half cubic metres |
Starting to go down. |
| a quick breather before the second load arrived at 10:30. 3 cubic metres this time as I got a bit twitchy and increased the order by half |
Needless to say we had plenty left over. About half a cubic meter at a guess. |
| After cutting away the covering for the temporary roof the left over was spread at the back underneath where the veranda will be. |
Sunday we didn't/couldn't do anything.
