Week 9
28th may 2001
Monday and a bank holiday. What better way to spend it than knocking a hole in a wall. |
Ceilings are now held up with scaffold poles. |
It's like living in a Greek temple. |
Tuesday kicked off with a delivery. I got them to drop it over the hedge into the front garden. |
with the ceilings propped I could saw the end of the ceiling joist so the walls could be built up. |
Old wall plate is now removed.
Wall plate is the timber that sits on top of the wall and the roof sits onto.
Wednesday and the Builders were back off holiday. First job was to sort out the mess I made in the kids bedroom. Brick up the old window opening and position the window in the hole. |
Thursday and the first floor wall could now be started along with the rebuild chimney. |
Notice the cantilever to turn a non cavity wall into a cavity wall. |
I made the profiles for the windows for the bathrooms. |
Friday and the wall on the other side is started. |
There wasn't much for us to do this weekend other than tidy up a bit.
