Hanging Section Frame Dividers
|
|---|
These are used as separators between individual hanging
section frames, they ensure an even and flat surface to the comb
within each individual section.
These fall into two types:- 'Plain' or 'Ventilated' (also
known as 'Slatted'). Each of these two categories is further
subdivided according to the material used for manufacture or the
method of construction.
The Plain Type
is either made from tinplate or thin plastic
sheet (I have seen thin plywood versions, but the lugs tend to be
rather weak.
The Slatted Type
If you have a supply of 'Birch' ply, (obtainable from aero modeling
shops in many thicknesses from 0.4 mm up to 6 mm. It is good
quality and quite strong, but is relatively expensive), 2.5 mm or
3 mm thick is best (another source is some forms of fruit boxes).
The gap in centre of the slatted type can be 7 mm or
8 mm. The gaps between the slats themselves should be in the 7,
8 or 9 mm region.
