One of the best ways to keep up to date and share ideas is
to subscribe to the various Email Lists, they act as a forum for the
discussion of many topics and people from all over the world give
useful input and suggestions. Many academics and established
beekeepers are members of these discussion groups and give much help,
encouragement and stimulation. Experience (or lack of it) is no
bar... All are treated equally. No question is ever "dumb",
but you should take the trouble to search the archives of several
groups before asking it.
BEE-L
(Informed Discussion of Beekeeping Issues and Bee
Biology)
This is probably the largest group with a high proportion of
American and Canadian subscribers. It is a "moderated" list,
meaning that ALL submissions to the list are first sent to the
panel of list moderators for review and approval prior to distribution.
To assist with "round the clock, spanning the globe
coverage", the four BEE-L moderators reside in three countries on
two continents. Any one of the BEE-L moderators may approve a
submission, whereas for a submission to be denied general
distribution, ALL the moderators must withhold their approval. This
ensures certain standards are upheld.
All commands must be sent by Email to the
"LISTSERV address," listserv@listserv.albany.edu
SUBSCRIBE BEE-L as message text.
There is another way of accessing BEE-L and searching the
List archive, and that is via Allen Dick's Website
http://www.internode.net/HoneyBee/
Then use the web interface. You will also be able to access the whole
BEE-L toolkit from that page.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/irishbeekeeping web site to
modify your subscriptions, look in the list archive at the previous
messages, or view the database and files section.
Log in with your user name and password, you will require a
"Yahoo ID" (all the Yahoo Groups Lists require this).
Some of the questions that you will be asked may seem intrusive, if
you feel this is impertinent, then by all means give fictitious
answers.
The compiled archive only refers to the original ListBot
messages, the new list (23rd June 2001) has a searchable archive
system.
