Airneis Tuath has as its aims

To promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of adults, children and young people particularly by the preservation of Vernacular Furniture of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

In furtherance of the above objects but not otherwise the Company shall have power:-

To create, establish and maintain an archive of Vernacular Furniture of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland containing photographs, drawings, actual pieces, documentary and anecdotal evidence, recorded interviews, books, plans and information on construction, locations, references and bibliographies.

To digitalise the Archive and make it available worldwide through the internet for furniture makers, historians, teachers, students and members of the general public.

|
To undertake research into design, construction, making and makers of Vernacular Furniture in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
|
To produce educational material including booklets, study packs, slides, compact discs and books.
|
To encourage awareness and understanding of the development of Vernacular Furniture in the far North by:

Exhibitions of historical material and makers, Lectures, workshops and study sessions.
|
To encourage and advise new makers of Vernacular Furniture.
|
To facilitate involvement in the design, construction and making of Vernacular Furniture.
