  • Trainee Hotel Manager - Trained in Kitchen, Dining Room, Reception and Bar & Cellar work.

1979 - Present day North Yorkshire Police - Various Locations.

  • Patrol Officer, Thirsk. Member of a small team, with limited supervision and specialist support, responsible for the day to day policing requirements of a predominantly rural town
  • Rural Beat Officer, Kirklington.
    • Performed the duties of constable in a rural community comprising of several separate villages providing a response to all manner of incidents that required a police presence on a 24 hour basis.
    • Facilitated forums for community, social and crime prevention matters and initiatives.
  • Emergency Planning Officer.
    • Formulated plans for the response to major incidents.
    • Planned and facilitated the delivery of a comprehensive training package to senior officers. This included audio and visual feed of realistic event scenarios for a table top command exercise.
  • Communications Officer.
    • Designed the operational & technical layout of the North Yorkshire Police Force Control Room. Operated Integrated Computer Controlled Communications Systems.
    • Planned and facilitated the correct response to all manner of incidents.
    • Introduced and maintained new information technology resources and provided information technology 'help desk' facilities.
