THE WORK STUFF

Fast approaching the 'retirement after thirty years service to the public' stage in his life, Hooch gives a little insight to his past, present, and (hopefully) future gainful employment...

North Yorkshire PoliceYou may have already seen from the Hooch page that this site is mainly about the sport of scuba diving and, any other topic (apart from Travel & Golf) is only covered by the briefest of information so as not to detract from the main subject. There is a need however to give some background and if it is required in greater detail, my personal website Castle Hooch, holds extensive background to me as a person, what makes me tick, where I come from and how I earn a living.

The Police Federation of England & WalesAfter leaving school I was originally employed in the catering and hotel trade indeed, owing to the fact my parents were licensees, I was brought up calling a pub/hotel my home. Nothing has changed there much! In the late 1970's I decided upon a career change and, as you will probably have deduced from the logo, I subsequently became a Police Officer (see My CV), a move that, despite the ups and downs experienced in any line of work, is a move I have never regretted.

The HTML Writers GuildDuring the last twenty years I have also spent a considerable amount of my spare time working for charities and voluntary organisations, not least of which was fifteen years service with the TAVR as an instructor with the Army Cadet Force. Since 1998 I have also been working upon my computer skills, my management skills and furthering my education with degree studies at The Open University.

Institute of Supervisory ManagementWhat does the future hold? That is a question many of us would sometimes like an answer to however, the answer can only ever be another question... Who Knows? I would like to think that I will find further employment to supplement my pension for a few years. Hopefully that work will utilise my management and/or computer skills, or perhaps my passion for travel and diving, maybe if I am really lucky, I will be able to earn a living from a combination of all the above some how. Now wouldn't that be nice!
