These people are only distant relations and I know little about them apart from what I have gleaned from the census. Francis Pickard was born around 1830 in Arncliffe (Yorkshire) and married Elizabeth, about 10 years his junior, from Settle. They had children:–

• David Carr 1876 Edenfield m Sarah Alice CHATTWOOD (1898)
• Margaret 1878 Edenfield

David Carr PICKARD was a woollen scutcher and he and Sarah Alice had a son, William (1899). Alice had a son George Thomas MILLER born around 1889 in Haslingden. In the 1891 census mother and son are living with her parents and in 1901 with just Elizabeth (her mother). Also present in both 1891 and 1901 is a daughter Dora about the same age as George Thomas. She is Elizabeth's grandaughter but her parentage is not known.
