In Memory of a very brave young boy

Matthew Tait.

11 July 1987 - 14th March 1999

It seems strange making a tribute to someone you have never really known. But I find my self compelled to do just this. Life is not all glorious and happy in reality life deals some devastating blows, and always begs the question, Why?

I never thought that buying a simple Internet magazine would influence my life so much. When I brought a copy of .Net it carried an article about a young boy who was fighting a brave battle against Ewing's Sarcoma which is a rare form of Bone Cancer.

Matthew was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma after he suffered a fall while out in Germany. After the fall he carried on as normal, Playing Football and Karate. He managed to do this even though he had a limp. His parents repeatedly took him to the German doctors. The pain became so unbearable his parents decided to by pass the doctors and took him to the local hospital. Matthew had X-rays although they confirmed no fractures they did confirm abnormalities to the left ilic bone in his pelvis.

After a series of tests it was confirmed that Matthew had Ewing's Sarcoma. Matthew would go onto fight the Cancer, proving again and again the he is an incredibly brave young boy.

Sadly on March 14th at 1.25am Matthew lost his brave fight against Ewing's Sarcoma, He passed away peacefully in his Mums arms.

My feelings and thoughts go out to his family. For some strange reason Matthew has influenced my life more than I thought.

It's hard trying to find the words that describe just how Matthew has influenced my life.

The simple word to use would be Hero. For he is one and a very brave one at that.

May you rest in peace, Matthew.

I hope his parents do not mind me doing this about their son Matthew, and I hope they do not mind me using the picture of him.

Below you will find a couple of links, The first is to Matty's homepage, and the second is to the page that is done by his parents. It contains some pictures of Matthew and some of his poem's which are some of the best that I have ever read. And some very good links.
